Magic in May at Migis Lodge…Part 1…The Wedding of Tawnee & Brian

photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyI have had the honor of photographing not one magical wedding at Migis this month…but two!  Pinch me.  The following post is the first in a two part series featuring May weddings at Migis Lodge on Sebago Lake in South Casco, Maine.  I’d love to see other Migis weddings…so send them our way (May, June or Oct)!  Tawnee & Brian this week…and Courtney & Mike–and they could not be more different–so stay tuned.

photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyMaine constantly surprises me–just when I think I’ve seen every gorgeous event location…a place like Migis shows up.  Book them early though…they only have weddings in late Spring and early Fall so the generations of guests can vacation during the social season!photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyMigis Lodge is nestled in on the pine forested shores of Sebago Lake.  Classic Maine.  It has been a vacation camp in one form or another since 1916.   As legend goes, “Migis” means “a place to steal away and rest” in local Native American dialects.photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyThe cabins and the main lodge are all very rustic, but still elegant and comfortable.  Most of the cabins sit steps away from the shore of quiet Sebago lake.photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyTawnee and her three sisters wore complementary periwinkle and bright blue accents.  The white anemones in their bouquets (and hair!) were the  perfect understated match.photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyKids were a big element at this wedding, and they had fun catching turtles around the island before getting gussied up!photo by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photography Brian and his groomsmen had to be “lured” away from all the great outdoor adventures.  Brian’s work involves squirrel studies, so naturally, the squirrel theme will run through this wedding–from the cufflinks to the table decor.  Leah Haydock, a most wonderful and welcome second shooter for the day, spent some pre-wedding quality time with the boys to get all these fun shots.  Thanks Leah!!photo by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyIt is a Migis Lodge wedding tradition for the bride to hop Captain Tim’s beautiful Chris-Craft boat and take the short, but breathtaking, ride to the ceremony site.photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyMost couples opt to marry on the grassy waterfront lawn near the main dock, but Tawnee and Brian chose nature’s cathedral overlooking Sebago–right in front of the main lodge.photo by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographydphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman PhotographySo many unique details from Tawnee and Brian for the guests.   They used antique spoons for their escort “cards.”photo by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyThe “felicidades” was a play on Brian’s last name…and Tawnee’s new last name…Felice!photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyThe gorgeously fresh buffet at Migis Lodge had something for everyone…all superbly displayed and delicious.photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyWe all loved their “recipe” guest book…I’d love to leaf through that and see what her guests will come up with.photo by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyI always try to take sunset stroll with my couples…Tawnee & Brian loved this moment!photo by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman Photographyphoto by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyLeah captured this stunning sunset shot as the last “portrait” of the evening…swoon. So many amazing moments of their day…I didn’t even share them all here!  But you get a taste of a beautiful wedding at Migis Lodge.  The pines, the lake, the trails, the wildlife..all beckon and create the most magical wedding experience for you, your family, and your guests.photo by Geneve Hoffman PhotographyThings we love about Tawnee & Brian’s Migis Lodge Wedding…
