A few weeks ago I was able to escape for a few days with my family for a Maine island getaway. Even though it was grey and rainy it was perfect timing for some down time and a much needed breather from the wedding planning and preparations under way at the shop. We stayed in a house that exhibited the genuine layers of life that can only be accumulated over generations of families coming and going thru the summers. The old maps, 50’s lamp shades, vintage linens, collected buoys from beach combing….and the island itself encompassed all the beauty of the Maine coast…beautiful beaches, hidden coves among rocky cliffs, perfect purple lupine, mossy and lush green woods. All these elements are quintessential inspirations for Maine wedding decor and details…color palates, print and graphic directions, flowers and natural elements for your table arrangements. Wedding vision can be easily discovered in the environment where you will have your celebrations instead of the multitude of wedding magazines and blogs! So get out side and take a walk and dig through your grandmother’s summer cottage closets and get creative!!
Yellow and teal or yellow, royal and navy blue…both so fantastic and both perfect color palates!
Vibrant, lush and textural….a little green can go along way! How fantastic would a table scape of a mass of ferns coming out of a bed of moss and rocks be!!!? Put it on a faux dupioni silk in grey for extra drama and reference to the rocks of Maine’s woods and seaside cliffs.
I am in love with these lampshades! The perfect color combinations of the red, deep yellow and sky blue and the 50’s nautical graphics are giving me visions of table numbers, escort cards, invitation suites and a color palate to die for! Sky blue linens with red dahlias, and yellow billy balls arranged in old white enamel wear – yes please!
Sky blue, ocean blue, sea foam green…50’s linens on the tables, textured blue baskets filled with white daisies and cosmos and print pieces inspired by a vintage map of Maine’s “Rockbound Coast”….LOVE it!
Take a breath of the ocean, be amazed at the beauty around you and you are sure to conjure up the vision that is just right for your wedding….and remember to celebrate every moment!!
