It’s kind of a secret…shhhh…weddings in Maine during the quiet and serene Winter season are something to behold. Especially this one that combined the beauty of the Winter Solstice and holiday spirit. Moira & Jim had a fun and family filled celebration on the shortest day of the year. Why not use what the natural scenery in Maine already offers? Gathered pine & berries contrasts nicely with the white paletteMoira found a lot of her details on ETSY…she wanted a look that felt fun and modern, but with a hint of vintage glamour. We were all totally in love with this crochet wrap…you will see it transform throughout the soiree…We also loved the play on greens during the day–all the greens were different, but played nicely together. Moira’s nieces made lovely little bridesmaids. We decided to do a “First Look” and we actually ended up doing two! One with Moira’s son, and then again with Jim. Jim grew up in this secret spot in York where the fields meet the sea…made for a beautiful back drop for first look and portraits.Moira herself designed this cut out wreath…she is a designer and also did all the invites with a little help.York Parish church in York Village is one of those pretty little quintessential New England white spires. The inside was already decorated beautifully for the season.Moira’s dad kept kissing everyone! Or at least those were some of my favorite photos of the day…sweet family moments. This group shot was not only all the family that was invited, but the entire guest list. We had moderate Winter Solstice weather to make this shot pretty easy and fun.MC Perkins Cove with a view of the North Atlantic from every single window was where the wedding family spent the rest of the festive evening. Moira, Jim and their son Ethan hand picked out all the ornament favors–nice touch and also conversation piece. We thought we were done with photos…but on the way to Ogunquit there was the most calm and serene Solstice sunset happening on Cape Neddick Beach…so happily did a few shots on the beach. Another bonus of Winter weddings in Maine–if you are on the beach, it looks like it could be any season!Things we love about Moira & Jim’s Winter Solstice Wedding in Maine…
